Barbados Hotels, Attractions, and Information
Crystal clear waters, miles and miles of white sandy beaches, blue sky, soft
south-easterly trade winds... you have arrived on Barbados. Whether you arrive by jet,
sail in on a luxury yacht or ocean liner... you have embarked on one of the best vacation
experiences in the tropics. Stretching out on a sandy beach seems the most natural way of
life. The lure of the colorful towns and cities filled with the hub-bub of hustle invites
you to markets and street fairs, boutiques and gourmet dining of world renowned pleasures.
Star of the Caribbean
There are consistent cooling north-east tradewinds and eight to nine hours of sunshine
most days. Temperatures range between 75 F and 90 F year round. The nights are usually
slightly cooler. The rain comes in quick showers and the dry season lasts from January to
June. This is the Caribbean and believe it or not, some people actually put on a sweater
to ward off the cool night breezes. The surf is usually above 80 F.
Weather and a Little Geography in the Tropics
Barbados is the only coral island in the region with all white-sand beaches.
The island measures 21 miles by 14 miles. The west and south coasts have calm Caribbean
seas and beaches. The rugged cliffs are on the Atlantic Ocean east coast. Being on the
outer edge of the Caribbean, Barbados recently joined the Caribbean as a trading
community. Even with such limited physical space - there are some 250,000 miles of roads
and 90 percent of the population own their own homes. The population is approximately
254,000.
Tax free shopping and competitive pricing guarantees good value. Whether you frequent the
quiet courteous air conditioned shops or purchase hand crafted goods from street
vendors... shoppers can rest assured that they are buying genuine, high quality products.
Prices can often be as much as 30% to 50% cheaper than the regular prices in Europe and
North America. Dining in Barbados ranges from fine dining of award winning cuisine to the
no frills casual. Most restaurants feature seafood because fresh fish here is some of the
best in the world. An abundant supply of good varieties, clean waters and a short trip
from water to market to table makes for a delicious treat.
Shopping and Dinning in Barbados
Barbados caters for all tastes and budgets from luxury hotels and all-inclusive resorts to
rooms in small hotels and self-catering apartments. The large expansive luxury hotels and
villas give the visitor a taste of the life styles of the rich and famous.
English with a broad dialect is the official language. Water sports from snorkeling,
diving, fishing, sailing, waterskiing and basking on the luxurious beaches are the
predominate visitors past times. There are two 18-hole and two nine-hole golf courses,
facilities for tennis, squash and... providing your documents are in order - it is now
possible for your wedding ceremony to take place on your very day of arrival.
